Deborah Charles was called to the Bar by Lincoln’s Inn in 1996, and awarded a Sir Thomas More bursary.

She undertook a common law pupillage at 6 Pump Court. She specialises in crime, defending and prosecuting for the CPS and H.M. Customs and Excise. Her practice is wide ranging, including drug smuggling and serious violence. She has particular experience in cases of sexual misconduct and child abuse/cruelty.

Reported cases include:

R v. Millberry, Morgan and Lackenby [2002] EWCA Crim 2891 (represented first appellant in guideline case on sentencing in rape)."
