Profile

Nina Ellin has practiced exclusively in criminal law for over 10 years, undertaking both prosecution and defence work. 

Nina's expertise ranges from large scale theft and fraud offences to drugs (possession and supply), importation offences (people, drugs and excise goods) and offences involving serious violence and sexual misconduct.  She has particular experience in cases involving child witnesses. 

 

Examples of cases undertaken

R v. Tyrell & Penchef & others - Junior defence counsel in a £90 million cocaine smuggling case.  The drugs were carried from the Caribbean to the UK by yacht. 

R v. Fleming & others - Junior defence counsel in a £20 million conspiracy to evade excise duty. 

R v. Quin Lin Wang  - Prosecution counsel in relation to allegations of sexual assault against a Chinese medical practitioner on his patient.

R v. Smith - Defence counsel: serious sexual assault by an 18 year old male, with similar convictions on a 13 year old girl. 

R v. Wenham & others - Junior prosecution counsel in a multi-handed case, where a campaign of harassment was waged by a former lover on a female and her family.  The campaign included the making of a number of false criminal allegations against her, giving rise to a conspiracy to pervert the course of justice. 

R v. O'Kane & others - Prosecution counsel: false imprisonment  possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, burglary.

R v. Thompson - Defence counsel: rape, making and distributing indecent images of children. 

R v. Mann - Prosecution counsel: rape
