Profile
Edward Grant is an experienced barrister specialising in public, planning and environmental law. He was called to the Bar in 1994, having graduated from Oxford in 1992. For over a decade, Edward Grant practised exclusively in criminal law, both defending and prosecuting (on behalf of the CPS and Customs) throughout the South East. He was regularly instructed to act in cases involving very substantial fraud (including VAT fraud) and drug importation. He was instructed as leading counsel for both defence and prosecution. Edward Grant subsequently joined the Public, Planning and Environmental team in Chambers. He is experienced in dealing with residential and commercial development including retail, and is regularly instructed by both developers and local authorities to advise and appear on their behalf at Planning Inquiries. He is an experienced advocate who takes a hands-on and meticulous approach to his cases. Edward Grant provides seminars to the planning sector: recent topics include Heritage Protection, and Costs in Planning Appeals. In addition, he regularly presents Mock Public Inquiries. Edward Grant is a planning law contributor to PLC (Practical Law) - his most recent publication was the Practice Note on the Community Infrastructure Levy. He is a past member of the South Eastern Circuit Committee. He is a member of the Planning and Environmental Bar Association.
