Gordon Menzies and Frances Aldson prosecute in a trading standards case involving auctioneers accused of fraudulently taking thousands of pounds of customers’ money

November 7, 2014

Gordon Menzies and Frances Aldson have commenced a trial at Reading Crown Court prosecuting three family members who ran an auction house and allegedly siphoned off customer’s money for their own gain. While customers who had entrusted items to the business went without payment, the jury were told this week that the three accused, a husband, wife and brother-in-law, paid large sums of money into their own personal accounts and engaged in dishonest business practices. Hundreds of thousands of pounds of customers’ money is alleged to have been misused in this way between 2009 and 2012.

The case is listed for six weeks. Gordon Menzies and Frances Aldson are instructed by West Berkshire District Council.
