Ian Rees Phillips instructed against “racist” Paris Metro Chelsea fans

Ian Rees Phillips has been instructed by the Metropolitan Police to act on its behalf in the football banning order applications for five football fans accused of racist violence on 17th February 2015 on the Paris Metro on the night of Chelsea FC’s away game against Paris Saint-Germain. The five men were part of the group on board the Paris Metro who prevented a black French man from boarding the train, whilst apparently singing racist songs.

Footage of the incident was captured on a mobile phone by a commuter and widely reported around the UK and world media.

The five men have been summonsed to appear before Waltham Forest Magistrates’ Court at 2pm on 25 March 2015, where Ian Rees Phillips of 6 Pump Court will present the Metropolitan Police’s case against each of them.

A football banning order is a preventative measure designed to stop potential troublemakers from travelling to football matches both at home and abroad.
