Mark Watson instructed on behalf of Environment Agency in waste cases involving “record fine”

April 15, 2016

A company was ordered to pay fines and costs totalling more than £1.2 million in relation to two separate prosecutions by the Environment Agency which concluded this week at ¬Harrow Crown Court following legal proceedings lasting more than three years.

The first case concerned the storage of quantities of hazardous waste significantly in excess of permitted amounts at the company’s waste transfer station in NW London and the second case involved the unlawful deposit of non-hazardous non-inert waste originating from the same transfer station at a farm in Oxfordshire.

The record fine was imposed in line with the recent sentencing guidelines for environmental offences. Mark Watson was instructed in respect of both cases by the Environment Agency.
