No renewal of licence for historic Soho Windmill Club

January 12, 2018

A notorious strip club in west London has failed in its application to Westminster City Council to have its sexual entertainment licence renewed. The decision follows concerns that dancers were regularly breaking the ‘no physical contact’ rules and that as such, it had been in breach of its licence conditions.

Stuart Jessop represented the objectors, instructed by Paddy Whur of Woods Whur Solicitors, who were objecting to the renewal of the club’s Sexual Entertainment Venue licence. Stuart Jessop made submissions that the Applicant had been involved with the club for a long period of time and despite these breaches being brought to their attention in October 2017, they continued to breach licence conditions right up to December 2017. Ultimately, the licensing Committee did not accept that the Applicant for the licence was a ‘suitable person’ to hold it.

The club has the right to appeal within 21 days.
