Air safety case – Oliver Saxby QC defendingTweet
A 26-year old woman was sentenced yesterday at Chelmsford Crown Court for offences of endangering the safety of persons on an aircraft (contrary to Regulation 240 of the Air Navigation Order 2016) and common assault. Chloe Haines had boarded a Jet2.com plane to Dalaman, Turkey, having consumed alcohol. En route, having been asked to sit down, she tried to open one of the aircraft’s doors. As a consequence, two RAF fighter jets were deployed and accompanied the plane back to the UK. At the time, Miss Haines was just under 3 weeks into a Community Order imposed for offences of drink driving and common assault.
