July 14, 2016

Craig Evans has successfully defended Haval Whab at Maidstone Crown Court who was acquitted yesterday after trial of wounding with intent and wounding in the alternative.

The prosecution case was that at a Christmas celebration at the Tara Restaurant, Chatham, the defendant struck the complainant with a glass object to the left eye causing a 3-4cm laceration above his left eyebrow. The defendant denied striking the complainant, either with a glass object or at all, and denied being responsible for any injuries the complainant suffered that evening. The defendant’s case was that he was falsely accused of assaulting the complainant.

The defendant was unanimously acquitted of wounding with intent, and the alternative count of unlawful wounding.
