Listed building enforcement notice in historic Windsor Conservation Area upheld

February 12, 2018

A listed building enforcement notice in respect of the Sir Christopher Wren Hotel in the Windsor Conservation Area has just been upheld after a public inquiry. The owners of the hotel, named after the famous architect who once lived there, had argued that the Notice was no longer required because the Council had subsequently granted permission for planning applications made after the enforcement notice was issued that addressed the works in the notice. They also sought to argue that the 12 months given for the works was not enough, and that 18 months was needed, partly to take account of the need to remove any scaffolding around the time of the Royal wedding in May. The Inspector rejected the majority of the hotel’s arguments and upheld the Notice.

Frances Lawson acted for the Council.
