Luton murder trial nearing conclusion – Oliver Saxby QC defendingTweet
The case of Lemonnier and Williams is nearing its conclusion. Zach Lemonnier, aged 19, is charged together with Robert Williams, aged 18 – with the murder of a man called Ronnie Wrighting.
The Crown allege that the two defendants launched an unprovoked attack on Mr Wrighting as he waited for a taxi in Duparc Close, Milton Keynes – striking him with a baseball bat (Williams) and fatally stabbing him with a large kitchen knife (Lemonnier).
The defendants deny the offence, saying that Mr Wrighting was the aggressor and that they were defending themselves. The case began on 28th January and has involved an anonymous witness, complex DNA evidence, consideration of unproven ‘bad character’ and measures designed to allow the defendants to give evidence freely and without feeling intimidated.
Oliver Saxby QC is leading Stefan Weidmann (and Natalie Goffe), instructed by Usmani King Solicitors.
