Mark Watson successfully prosecutes company responsible for major pollution incident

Mark Watson, on behalf of the Environment Agency, has successfully prosecuted one of Europe’s leading chemical companies for a pesticide pollution of the River Nene in Peterborough. Thousands of fish died and thousands more were damaged as a result of the leak of toxic chemicals into the river which occurred in June last year.
 
The company was ordered to pay £92,000 in fines and costs at Peterborough Crown Court.
