Following a four day hearing, a judge has ruled that plans for a £3m hydropower plant on a stretch of the River Trent cannot go ahead. The judge ruled that developers had not properly consulted with the anglers over the plans which had proposed development on a stretch of prime fishing waters on the River Trent at Sawley Weir.

It was found that the anglers, represented by the Pride of Derby Angling Association, had not been consulted until very late in the planning process and that the development would significantly affect anglers enjoyment of fishing on this stretch of river.

Nicholas Baldock acted for the Anglers.
