Oliver Saxby QC secures acquittals in ‘builder’ attempted murder trialTweet
The jury yesterday acquitted Jenny Turrell of wounding with intent – she having earlier been cleared of attempted murder at the close of the Crown’s case.
The Crown alleged that she and her co-defendant (and husband), Robert Symons, had attacked a man called Jeff King in the street, causing him serious injuries. Mr King had renovated a property of theirs, only to ‘undo’ what he had done by causing £20,000 worth of damage to the property – deliberately, with a pick-axe handle. When Mr Symons came across Mr King a few days later, an altercation ensued during which – the Crown alleged – Mr Symons punched and kicked Mr King to the ground and Mrs Turrell stabbed him in the neck with a screwdriver.
Oliver Saxby QC was instructed by Reeves and Co, Ashford. He led Dan Cummings during the trial.
