Recorded cross-examination of vulnerable witnesses – pilot scheme

May 19, 2017

Richard Barraclough QC has been engaged in the recorded (Section 28 Youth Justice and Criminal Evidence Act 1999) cross-examination of a number of witnesses to an alleged murder who are aged under 18 years of age. Section 28 provides for measures designed to support vulnerable witnesses using the pre-recording of cross-examination of such witnesses. The pilot scheme has being undertaken in the Leeds, Liverpool and Kingston Crown Courts prior to being rolled out country wide. The scheme is to be extended to all complainants in rape cases in Leeds. He is happy to assist those who become engaged in the process or work generally with vulnerable witnesses.

Having finished a 9 week gang related murder at the Central Criminal Court leading Catherine Donnelly, Richard is now engaged in a multi-million Pound Cross Rail fraud and corruption trial.
