Richard Barraclough QC acting in two fraud casesTweet
Richard Barraclough QC has acted in two separate fraud cases over the last few months, one involving the sale of drugged and dangerous horses; the other involving false claims relating to the recycling of electronic waste destined for the Nigerian market.
In the first case he represented a veterinary surgeon who had been accused, along with two horse dealers, of conspiracy to defraud by drugging substandard and dangerous horses. The trial lasted three months and involved expert evidence called in relation to equine psychology behaviour and conditions, veterinary practice and the effect of drugs on horses. He was instructed by Bond Joseph Solicitors.
In the second case Richard Barraclough QC represents the principal defendant in Leeds Crown Court in his trial for conspiracy to defraud. The case involves the alleged fabrication of data produced from depots in England Scotland and Northern Ireland in support of claims for millions of Pounds Sterling for the recycling of WEEE destined for the Nigerian market.
