The Autonomous Consumer and the Dutiful State: A Real Problem or Simply Food for Thought?

David Travers QC will be speaking at a conference entitled The Future of Food Law & Policy in Canada, in Halifax, Nova Scotia next month. David will present a paper called “The Autonomous Consumer and the Dutiful State: A Real Problem or Simply Food for Thought” in the session entitled “Food Safety: Between Governance and Choice”.
The Conference will be jointly hosted by the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University and Food Lawyers of Canada. It will bring together leaders from across the field to explore law’s changing role in Canadian food systems and to help chart the future of food law and policy in Canada.
Keynote speakers include Dr Ron Doering of Gowlings WLG, Michael Roberts, Executive Director UCLA – Resnick Food Law and Policy Clinic and Bryant Terry, advocate, author and chef, amongst many others.
Other speakers include participants from Harvard Law School, McGill University, Georgetown Law, University of Waterloo, Université de Sherbrooke, Faculté de droit, Hudon Avocats, Farris Vaughan Wills & Murphy LLP and Owen Bird LLP.
