Tom Dunn secures acquittals in Operation Silverton following a 5 week trial at Croydon Crown Court

June 22, 2016

Tom Dunn, instructed by Paul Lahiff & Co., has secured the acquittal of Raymond Duigan on charges of conspiracy to rob and false imprisonment following a 5 week trial at Croydon Crown Court.

The prosecution case was that the defendants, dressed as police officers and equipped with fake search warrants and police IDs, gained access to the affluent home of a dentist and his wife. Once inside the complainants were tied up and subjected to violence whilst a substantial quantity of cash and jewellery were stolen. The first defendant’s case was that no genuine robbery had taken place and that the incident had been staged as a precursor to an insurance fraud at the complainant’s instigation.
